Nucleus of Advanced Manufacture
Prof. Dr. Henrique Rozenfeld
In 1996, the Nucleus of Advanced Manufacture (NUMA) was founded from the approval of a project entitled “Integration of the Manufacturing” by the Program of Nucleus of Excellence (PRONEX) from the Ministry of Science and Technology (MCT). NUMA was a project that aggregated people from many areas of knowledge and institutions, around the manufacture, like the real manufacture enterprises.
The excellence of NUMA is the integration between manufacturing areas and people. From this conception NUMA has detached itself in the national scenery. NUMA has received some prizes and has had a wide recognition.

Department of Assembly Technology and Factory Management
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Günther Seliger
The Department of Assembly Technology and Factory Management gets its bearing for research and development from industrial and technological tasks. In doing so it is pre-eminent to exploit potentials for economization resulting from the manifold interactions between product, operating material and organization of facilities and their peripherals as well as the consistent implementation of innovative technology and form of organization. The main focus is in computer-aided assembly planning and control, prototypic realization and experimental testing of assembly processes and systems, application of sensors for assembly processes as well as allocation of work and facility management.
