REMANUFACTURING KNOWLEDGE AND PRACTICE
Value proposition
Within these legislations, the need to consider the environmental characteristics of products is highlighted. It is also important to integrate these characteristics throughout the product chain due to, for example, EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility) stimulated on ElektroG [6].
Channels
The compliance of the legislations mentioned can also cause changes in the organization and material flows, as happens with the German transposition in the law ElektroG. Once operational issues are impeding the WEEE treatment and reuse, it becomes necessary to analyze the material flows before and after the introduction of the ElektroG [11].
Customer Relationship
The participation of the customers is also important. In this sense, however, it is also possible that the relationship with clients leads to some challenges and changes. In Germany, for example, to comply with the goals of the ElektroG, consumers need to be reached and conivnced [6], especially regarding participation in take back programs. The same happens in Brazil, once that there is accountability on PNRS for the return of the consumer products and packaging to retailers and distributors in PNRS [12].
Revenue Stream
Regarding German laws, it is possible to notice differences in cost and revenue structures due to collection, transportation, reuse and recycling processes before and after the implementation of the ElektroG [11].
Key Activities
To comply with these legislations, new activities may be required, as in the case of KrW-/AbfG. This specific law deals with the product manufacturers and owners responsibility, so they become responsible for the materials recycling [12]. Therefore, it is necessary to structure the recycling activities accordingly.
Key Partnerships
Some changes in partnerships may be necessary as well, in the PNRS, for example, working in partnership with cooperatives and / or association of recyclable materials is encouraged [12]. Moreover, the reverse logistics process is expected to be implemented through sectorial agreements between public authorities and companies [14].
Cost Structure
Because of WEEE legislation in Europe, producers of electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) should be financially responsible for managing waste from their products [2], which may require higher expenses with a structure of the treatment of discarded electronic products.
